Dr. Jill Meacher - Owner

Jill was born and raised in North Vancouver. She grew up in a family that could not say no to any type of animal. She has owned iguanas, frogs, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, guinea pigs, snakes, turtles, birds, cats, and dogs. Her love of animals started early.

Jill attended the University of Victoria on a scholarship for three years following high school and then transferred to the University of Guelph to pursue a zoology degree. She graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree with distinction.  She then proceeded to veterinary school in Saskatoon. Jill graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 with multiple awards and great distinction. After ample travel, including time volunteering in Africa, she began her veterinary career on Vancouver Island in Courtenay/Comox. Jill spent three years there working in a very busy clinic with on-call status and non-stop emergencies. She then took the big leap into marriage and moved back to Vancouver where her husband was training to be an emergency physician.  After 9 years of working at a prestigious and well-respected clinic in Vancouver she is very excited to open a practice close to home and help her community on the North Shore.

In her spare time Jill enjoys a variety of sports and does her best to be physically active. She swims, skis, mountain bikes, runs, and especially loves hiking the North Shore mountains with her dog, son, daughter, and husband. Jill enjoys volunteering with wildlife and at the SPCA spay and neuter clinics. She is lucky to have an unusual collection of rescued pets: a unique French Bulldog, Gremlin, a beautiful, perpetually grumpy cat, Pickwick, and a finch, Chicken Little, who is missing two of his toes.

Jill loves all aspects of veterinary medicine with a special interest in ophthalmic disorders, surgery, and preventative medicine. She believes in a transparent, personalized approach to providing the best care for each animal in the family with an emphasis on honesty, compassion, and high-quality medicine.

Dr. Claire Beneke - Owner

Claire grew up in West Vancouver where she spent a lot of her time in the outdoors playing soccer, hiking, snowboarding and horseback riding. Claire has always had a love for animals and on her kindergarten graduation diploma declared that she was going to be a veterinarian. Claire attended the University of British Columbia where she majored in Animal Science and graduated with a Bachelor of Science with honours. Claire then was accepted to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon where she completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Claire excelled during her school years at WCVM and graduated with great distinction, being awarded the faculty gold medal. This award is given to the graduating student who has shown the highest proficiency in the science and art of veterinary medicine during their 4 years of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.

Professionally, Claire loves the variety general practice has to offer including dentistry, surgery, and preventative medicine. She also has a special interest in oncology and senior health care including pain management. In her spare time she enjoys the great outdoors with her husband, two young daughters, and two dogs Quincy and Sullivan, while their ragdoll cat Keith lounges at home. She loves to surf in Tofino and enjoys hiking, trail running and cycling on the local mountains of the North Shore. Claire is most excited to finally be able to work within and serve the community where she and her family live.

Dr. Beneke is currently taking some time off due to illness but you will still see her helping out around the clinic on a regular basis. She will be back to work as a veterinarian at Skyline Veterinary Hospital in 2022.

Dr. Rocky Lis - Skyline Veterinary Hospital - North Vancouver, BC

Dr. Rocky Lis - Owner

Dr. Rocky Lis was born and mostly raised in British Columbia but has lived and travelled far and wide. He has lived in five Canadian provinces and has lived, worked and travelled through six continents. Animals have always been a part of these adventures: growing up with huskies, rabbits, backyard chickens and uncountable cats, studying wildlife as a field biologist, or assisting rural Ugandan communities to improve their goat and poultry care. His path to becoming a veterinarian has been circuitous and has brought him to a meaningful profession, one in which each day he gets to improve the health of animal family members.

One of the practice co-owners is a childhood friend of Dr. Lis’ wife (who also grew up on the North Shore) and introduced the two some years ago. Furthermore, Dr. Lis was easily persuaded by the mountains and his wife to move to North Vancouver in 2014. Their household includes two young children and their Himalayan cat, Leo. Dr. Lis and his family enjoy getting outdoors into nature to hike and cycle local trails, ski, canoe and bird watch.

Dr. Lis completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Victoria, his Master of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia, and in 2009 completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. Since graduation he has enjoyed the diversity of experience as a locum veterinarian working at emergency and small animal and exotic veterinary practices throughout British Columbia and in Nova Scotia. Dr. Lis has special interests in exotic and avian medicine, as well as emergency medicine, surgery, and dentistry.
